With 2019 coming to a close we conducted a final survey of the year to find out how teachers fared. A summary of the results can be found here (which links to a pdf document saved on Google drive). Although it has undoubtedly been a challenging year, overall the majority of the teachers that took part in this survey feel satisfaction with what they have achieved. Teachers found particular pride in their students’ achievements, felt satisfaction from delivering high quality teaching, and enjoyed positive relationships with both colleagues and pupils.
Looking ahead to 2020 suggests that challenges lie in wait. Only 12% of the teachers that took part in this survey indicated that they felt positive about the direction of education for the next 12 months. Financial pressure, workload, mental health, recruitment/retention and behavioural issues were all cited as being concerns, and those fall on top of the day-to-day challenges of delivering high quality teaching!
So with 2019 drawing to an end, we should take this opportunty to thank teachers for the hard work that they have put in over the course of the year, and support them to achieve their goals in 2020. On that note we wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best wishes for the New Year!
