Teachers demonstrating experiment with primary aged students

Green Shoots publishes 2026 UK School Landscape Report

The UK School-Sector Landscape Report 2026 (fifth annual edition) providing the latest snapshot of schooling across the UK, based on a survey of 400 teachers is now freely available to download by clicking here and entering your contact details.

The report explores perceptions of the macro education landscape, conditions within teachers’ own schools, and teachers’ personal experiences, alongside new analysis of SEND provision and school spending priorities.

Findings highlight a sector under sustained pressure from funding constraints, workload and recruitment/retention challenges, alongside growing complexity in pupil needs.

At the same time, many teachers report supportive school cultures and effective leadership in their own settings.

The report also tracks fast-growing classroom adoption of AI tools (now used weekly by around six in ten teachers), and reviews the evolving role of Oak National Academy, which is showing increasing momentum ahead of anticipated curriculum change.
