In response to the school-closure period, teachers have been working hard to provide remote learning opportunities for their students. To see how things are going, we conducted a short survey with teachers, the results of which can be read in full on Google Drive by clicking here. To boil it down to three key points:
- With such wide-spread disruption to everyday life, the impact of the school-closure period is likely to have a lasting impact, particularly for more vulnerable children who may not be getting as much support at home as other students. This means that the attainment gap is likely to significantly grow, which could take years to close.
- The speed of adoption of digital resources had somewhat stalled over the past few years, but this crisis is likely to provide the impetus needed to drive more extensive usage of digital resources.
- The response to crisis within the education-community has been incredibly impressive, and it is clear that everyone is pulling together to get through these challenging times.
